US National Scholarships

Main general requirements for US national organizations offering scholarships are as follow:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Being a US citizen or US national.
  • Be in good disciplinary and academic standing.
  • Being on the process of your study abroad application or having been accepted by a study abroad program through a University, College or Higher Education system within the US.

However, every scholarship differs from each other having its own specific requirements. For more information on these specifications visit the scholarship site you are interested in applying for.

Here are some of the US Scholarships:

  • Carpe Diem Foundation Scholarship
    This award is not specifically for study abroad but may be used for that purpose if the student is attending a program sponsored by an accredited U.S. university.

  • Fulbright Grants
    Fulbright grants enable students of all disciplines to undertake one year of study and/or research at the graduate level in over 100 countries around the world.

  • Hispanic Study Abroad Scholars (HSAS)
    Over $8 Million in scholarships for Hispanic study abroad. The HSAS Scholarship offers $1,000 per semester to students of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) attending Global Learning Semesters programs.

  • International Education Finance Corporation
    In this time of globalization and increased desire to study abroad, the International Education Finance Corporation (IEFC) has developed a range of international student loan programs for the growing population of students who wish to study in foreign countries.   • The Garden Club of America Summer Scholarships for Environmental Studies

  • Gilman Scholarships
    Awards of up to $5,000 are made for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad. Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being $4,000. This congressionally-funded program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and is administered by the Institute of International Education.   • Institute for International Public Policy Fellowship

  • National Security Education Program (NSEP) - Undergraduate Program
