Housing

Our students typically live with host families, but some students prefer to live in residence halls or student apartments.

Living with a family or in a residence hall includes three meals per day and laundry service once a week for the length of the program. Ironing is not included.

Homestay

Staying with a host family is an ideal way to enrich the experience and to reinforce the knowledge gained during the program. Students will really make the most of their stay by being in direct contact with the local culture; this will be accomplished as they gradually get to know an authentic Spanish way of life.

We have known many of the families for years, and we can assure that all have extensive experience in providing accommodations for international students. They have been selected according to their level of culture and for the personal attention that they provide to our students. The majority of our families are composed of a father, a mother, and children, although some families consist of simply a mother and her children, as in other cultures. They may also take in Spanish students during the academic year (October to June) and even several international students. We make sure that the number of students is appropriate for the type of housing and that there is a mix of different nationalities. This ensures that all communication will be in Spanish, which, of course, is the official language within the family.

On arrival, the students will be given a key so they can come and go as they please and no independence is lost. The students will also be able to receive telephone calls.

Residence Halls

During the academic year, the residence halls are occupied mainly by Spanish students, but in the summer months (July, August, and September) they are used almost exclusively by international students. They have spacious rooms, shared bathrooms, and communal areas with television, video and music systems. Laundry service is also available.

Student Apartments

Student apartments are typical family dwellings, each with several bedrooms, a kitchen (fully equipped with cooking utensils, washing machine and refrigerator) and shared bathrooms. They are shared by students of all nationalities. This arrangement can enrich the international aspects of the stay.

This is an inexpensive accommodation choice, so don’t expect many luxuries. They are furnished in a basic style and do not have a telephone or a television set.

The ´community rules´ of sharing an apartment include an agreement that the students will be responsible for certain things: e.g., contributing towards the cleaning of the apartment, cooking their own food and always remembering to respect their roommates and neighbors.

Upon their arrival at the school, we will provide students with sheets and blankets. We charge a small deposit which will be refunded at the end of their stay when they return the bedding. The price of the accommodation includes electricity, gas, water, and a weekly cleaning of the communal areas (kitchen, living room, bathroom and hallways).
